Makunaimã: the myth through time, the theater play, brings the indigenous voices of Pemon, Taurepang, Wapishana and Macuxi, people who are legitimate heirs of Makunaimã, claiming the stereotyped Macunaíma within Mário de Andrade's own house, mixing stories and different indigenous cultures to understand the formation of the Brazilian people, based on our sacred.
Makunáima or Makunaimã, the indigenous deity from time immemorial, inhabits Mount Roraima, in the far north of Brazil, and is part of the sacredness of some indigenous peoples who live under his care and gaze as a child of God.

It is in the noise of the discussion about Macunaíma and Makunaimã that Mário de Andrade wakes up from Beyond, walks to his room and surprises everyone. "Do not be afraid. I've been sleeping peacefully for so long and suddenly I hear you here discussing my work, accusing me of a lot of things […] I heard people there saying that I had to go to the Indians, listen for myself the taurepang myths. And that if I had done that, I would have written another story.”
It is in this energy that the dialogue takes place between the owner of the house, the complainants and the guests — unfortunately, for Mário, without wine or cigars.
Makunaimã: Myth through Time is a revolutionary book, which brings out voices and visions from the other side – the indigenous one –, which for ninety years was totally invisible, being repeatedly disrespected in its existence and in its sacredness.
— Cristino Wapishana, in the preface
